"Around that time, she was being courted by a Mexican hotel owner. He really fell for Mama, plus he greatly coveted her restauranteur expertise. Oh, I forgot to mention that she did stay with the family restaurant despite my stepfather, but only because she had already bought him out. It was her place and she actually fired him. Anyway, José had a lovely resort hotel in Puerto Vallarta, and apparently Greek food is really popular down there. She was afraid of abandoning me and John, with how problematic Elias was being, but I just told her, don't worry your little girl is a big girl. Anyway, she's already seventy-one, wants to retire and come home. The romance has fizzled with José, who even at seventy plus is a serial cheater, and she wants to come home to Canadian free health care and the loving embrace of her daughter. And she wants to go to England with me to see her grandson...
