"The Azores?" says Carol. "Why, how very interesting."
"What do you know about the Atlantis connection", says Sarah."
"About as much as you do", says Sheila. "To this day, I'm still not sure what to believe. It seems like a lot of metaphysical bunkum, but also, a lot of strange things were happening."
"You did mention your painting of the high priest and priestess and the psychic who identified them", says Carl.
"There were other things", says Sheila. "There was that apple tree."
"That tree was weird", says Michael. "Every summer, it produced golden apples. Not yellow, but gold, shining gold, like they had been dipped in it."
"Very tasty apples", says Sheila. "I had a number of botanists and horticulturists take a look at it, and even genetic testing, and everyone was equally baffled. They had never encountered the like. There were even scholarly articles written about the thing. And every year the yield was abundant."
"And it came from the Azores, you say", says Carol. "How very intriguing."
"The Hesperides", says Michael. "That's why the tree creeped me out so much. They were the original apples, the mythic apples, the garden of Eden apples and the apples of Greek myth and legend."
"And they made the most wonderful cobbler", says Sheila...
