It's All Performance Art 38

This is what I'm drawing these days.  It's called a Himalayan Monal, or Impeyan Pheasant

Isn't he a pretty little birdie!  Actually more the size of a large roasting chicken, and being of the same family, probably equally tasty as a chicken.  Don't ask me, I'm vegetarian.  How could you guess?.

here's another one

They're pretty iridescent.  Hey, they're pretty, period.  They are also the national bird of Nepal.  I have also painted them on occasion.

There is also a Chinese Monal.  They are very rare and, I think, they are considered vulnerable

Chinese monals (Lophophorus lhuysii), a species listed as vulnerable on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. Monal numbers have recovered on Jiudingshan Mountan after two decades of anti-poaching patrols. Photo courtesy of Jiudingshan Friend of Wildlife Association.

Monals ae tough birds and do well in the winter and snow.

This is a Sclater's Monal

That's all for today, Gentle Reader.  Thought you'd like something nice to look at on a near-winter day.
