The visitors, except for Amanda, have left already. We will be staying for half an hour, then those of us who will not be staying in the house will be going to the diner for lunch.
Carol asks Carl, since he is seated next to her, "What did the nurse want to talk to you and your sister about? This all seems rather curious."
"Mel, is this a good time to make the announcement", says Carl to his sister.
"They're going to find out sooner or later."
Carl clears his throat. "There is a reason why Naomi, the public community health nurse, shares in common with us the name Vancouvoerden." He pauses as though for theatrical effect. "It is because she is our half sister."
"This is interesting", says Francois.
"Dad", says Melissa, "It turns out that he remarried, without telling us anything. An aboriginal woman from the local Stolo Nation.
"He didn't tell you anything", says Maureen. "That is so strange."
"Before the divorce he was already spending half the year out here, and that is when he met Naomi's mother. They had an affair of some sort, then when Mom divorced him they married. Naomi was already around six years old"
"How could you have never known or met her?" says Sarah.
"Melissa replies, "Naomi's mother would no longer come anywhere near the house or property. She insisted it was haunted. And Naomi just said that for her it has been a very important step to come here to see us and reveal herself to us..."
