We sat together for a sumptuous breakfast. There was a huge bowl of prepared tropical fruits, granola, cheese, whole grain bread and various cheeses. With coffee of course. We ate in silence. I didn't seem to have any questions for this kid. I already accepted that this was now where I lived. After breakfast, we washed the dishes, then walked outside together. We paused at the fountain. "This, he said, is the fountain of forgetfulness. You drank of the water when you arrived last night. Your whole memory is erased and this is where your new life, your new birth begins. The gargoyle from which water trickled did look truly menacing. We sat together on a bench. It was a lovely morning, just a few wispy clouds in the sky, just a little bit warm and breezy...
